OCTOBER LEAVES
October leaves are coming down,
This bright and sunny day;
They're blowing lightly in the breeze,
As they come flying o'er my way.
I really like the red ones best,
The yellow too are grand;
Then there's brown and shades of green,
All come without command.
Softly swirling o'er my head,
They settle in a mound;
And there they'll lie as time goes by,
Great heaps of then are found.
Till men may rake them all away,
or leave them until spring;
But all their beauty will be gone,
and soon some new ones bring.
Life may be just like the leaves,
Gone youth and beauty too;
But age has learned a lot of things,
Real good for me and you.
